Macintosh Computers

Macintosh Evangelist

When the Macintosh was introduced in 1984, it did something no other computer had done before. He smiled and said "Hello". Friendly, intuitive and elegant, the Mac was the first computer that allowed you to concentrate on the tasks that the user needed to carry out instead of concentrating on how to make the computer carry them out. This idea changed the world. Now, creating technology that anticipates the way people work has led to many new successes. The type of successes you plan to continue with. Successes that we think should be known, particularly now, in light of recent reports regarding the great challenges facing Apple Computer.

In 1995, Apple Computer sold more personal computers to more people than ever before in its history: 4.5 million. Today, you find Macintosh computers in a greater number of homes around the world than any other brand of computer. Apple's leadership in the educational market continues to grow, as evidenced by the fact that Apple now represents two-thirds of computers in North American schools. Macintosh is the number one computer among college students in the United States. In fact, 29% of students who bought a computer use Apple, which is 11% more than its next competitor. And Apple continues to define the industry standards for the Internet, where 20% of the servers are Apple, and 40% of the pages were created on a Macintosh computer. Of course, Apple continues to be the standard in markets such as DTP, engineering, multimedia and film, music and video production where 63% of digital authoring takes place on the Macintosh.

The introduction of multimedia software including QuickTime, QuickTime VR, QuickTime Conferencing and QuickDraw 3D to the market demonstrates Apple's leadership in multimedia and virtual reality. With the development of computers based on RISC processors, Apple continues to deliver on the promise of the next generation of personal computers. The Macintosh is today the most compatible personal computer in the world, the only computer capable of running applications for both MS-DOS and Windows, in addition to running thousands of Macintosh applications. Apple continues to be considered the best computer for reliability and service, requiring less user support than any other computer.

All of this helps explain why today, 56 million people use more than 23 million Macintosh computers and why Apple is a recognized and loved brand around the world. Users share Apple's vision: that computing power should be available and accessible to everyone, that with the right tools people can achieve the impossible, that changing the world is definitely possible. The vision of making the individual more powerful has always been Apple's path, it has taken humans further than where they were, and will continue to take them even further.

As you see, my dear namesake, computing is sometimes like a religion that motivates a Jew to evangelize like a Catholic.

A big hug to your intelligence and sensitivity. Looking forward to sitting down and talking to you.
